Biblical foundation for personal crisis
People of all ages are engaged in a Christian community that provides support during times of personal crisis.
The default position of the human heart is this: God loves me because of what I do and how I live my life. Therefore, in times of crisis, we often panic wondering what on earth we did to deserve such difficult circumstances.
The LORD on the other hand says, ‘Hey, expect difficulties, not smooth sailing. You are going to go through fierce storms…but I have something that will anchor your heart no matter how big the waves appear.’
He even takes it further by saying that in Jesus’ cosmic scale love; through all He has carried for you on the cross and has given you all things through His resurrection, you are now a ‘super conqueror’ – even when your physical eyes can only see the immediate pain you’re experiencing.
Romans 8 is saying in big bold letters, God is with you in your deepest, most soul-wrenching moments. He won’t let you disappear into the pain; He’ll meet you right in the midst of it and carry you into the light. The only way that happens is to receive it by faith.
It is not about your goodness. It is not about your past. It is not about you trying a little harder. It is about Jesus Christ and His great love for you even when you’re a mess.
This is such an important message.
- How can we be sure that the people of our congregation know the great love and forgiveness of Jesus during the difficult or messy times in our lives?
- Is there something you can do?
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:35, 37
